Nazaré Couto has a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Technology from the University of Porto (FCUP, 2010). She is an Associate Professor and serves as Coordinator of the Research Area – Bioresources and Green Technologies (B>) since 2021. Within B>, she leads a team working in two main areas: pollution control and remediation technologies across different environmental and industrial matrices, and soil management, focusing on quality indicators and their broader value.
From the NOVA side, she coordinates European projects (INTERREG SUDOE and Horizon Europe), leading work packages related to piloting activities and quality indicators. At the European level, she actively contributes to the European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL), serves on scientific evaluation committees, acts as an expert for the European Commission, and is a board member of FORCE11.
