Laurent Drouet is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon, in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, where he is a member of CENSE, and Senior Scientist at the Fondazione Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC), Italy. His research focuses on integrated assessment modelling, climate policy, uncertainty analysis, and the economics of mitigation and adaptation. He leads the development of the WITCH integrated assessment model, a widely recognised framework for designing and evaluating decarbonisation pathways under real-world constraints, including energy security, technology deployment, macroeconomic trade-offs, and climate impacts. He contributed to the Sixth IPCC Assessment Report and is involved in several EU-funded research projects, including REPAIR, UPTAKE, and PRISMA. Laurent holds a PhD in Economics and Social Sciences, has a background in applied mathematics, and has worked at various research institutions across Europe, including a recent collaboration with Princeton University. He is an editor at Global Environmental Change and has co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, including publications in Nature Climate Change, Nature Energy, and The Lancet Planetary Health. He has been recognised as a Highly Cited Researcher by Web of Science (2022–2025).
