Within the disciplines of ecology and sustainability sciences, my research focuses on the study of socioecological systems through the socio-cultural valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and the analysis of the impacts produced by direct and indirect drivers of Global Change in order to provide scientific evidence towards sustainable ecological transition and rural development. My PhD focused on an analysis of agroecosystems from a socio-ecological perspective to advance the knowledge of the connection between agricultural landscapes and society. It aimed to complement existing approaches for the analysis of socio-ecological systems, in order to deepen the understanding of the different levels of systemic functioning, from the Sustainability Sciences, combining disciplines such as environmental sociology, landscape ecology and agroecology.
