Biography

Inês Cosme holds a PhD in Global Studies from NOVA University Lisbon. In her doctoral project, she explored degrowth theory and practices, mainly through understanding the role of bottom-up and top-down initiatives in performing fundamental changes in the way economic and social relations are performed currently, to a system that respects a plurality of values and is based on cooperation and solidarity.

She is a researcher at CENSE since 2012, where she collaborated in multiple research projects over the years in the fields of sustainability assessment, green economy, environmental policy instruments, and ecosystem services. She also held functions of Science Management and Communication at CENSE from March 2019 to February 2021. Inês is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at NOVA FCSH (Lisboa) and EEG-UMinho (Braga), teaching courses ranging from environment and sustainability to social policy and local governance.

Her background is in Environmental Engineering from NOVA School of Sciences and Technology, and she also holds an Advanced Studies diploma in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies from the University of Lisbon.
