Francisco Ferreira isĀ Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering of the NOVA School of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon (FCT-NOVA) and a researcher at CENSEĀ (Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Research). He holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from FCT-NOVA, a master's degree from Virginia Tech in the USA and a PhD from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is the author of several papers, book chapters and books related with air pollution, climate change, and sustainable development. He was President of Quercus from 1996 to 2001 and Vice President from 2007 to 2011. He was a member of the National Water Council and the National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development. He is currently the President of "ZERO - Sustainable Terrestrial System Association", a non-governmental environment organization with national activity.
